At a recent Toronto City Council meeting, councillors approved a Zoning By-law Amendment application for Block 1 of 50 Wilson Heights Boulevard as part of the City-led Housing Now initiative. This initiative aims to deliver 1,484 new residential units, including 520 affordable rentals, to the area near Wilson Avenue and Allen Road. Led by the City's real estate agency, CreateTO, the eight-acre community will replace an underused TTC parking lot with a mix of affordable, market rental, and ownership homes close to Wilson Station.
Block 1, developed by Greenwin and Tridel and designed by Kirkor Architects, is part of a multi-phase community that will include 209 housing units across 10 storeys. Changes to the original plans include the elimination of office space, reduced parking, and the removal of a publicly accessible open space. Once complete, Block 1 will be the first step in creating a vibrant master-planned community with housing units, a park, a child-care center, and public community spaces. Construction has already begun, with first occupancy expected in early 2029.
